A Dalek Ring Bearer
I really enjoyed this story. A pair of Dr Who fans with a Dalek ring bearer. Not only did the couple have one of the most evil foes but they also came down the aisle to the series theme tune. It was the idea of renewing their vows after 30 years that made them create this great event. It was to raise money for the little buds fund for special care babies at Darent Valley hospital. They both work there, one as a midwife and the other in the maternity ward.

The couple, Paul and Joanne Seymour, held the unique ceremony at St Pauls Church in Gravesend, Kent on Saturday 2nd August. There were 80 guests and most did not know of the surprise. Paul’s brother made it appear that he had forgotten the ring and rushed out, coming back in to say the minibus driver was bringing it in. Instead the congregation was treated to the Skaro resident entering with the ring.

The vicar was definitely a sport letting the occasion take place. To have such an evil presence within a holy place is unusual but the reverent Graham Herbert did agree due to the fund raising. The Dalek did show him respect by ordering the church to ‘all show respect to the reverend.’ The fun continued at the party afterwards. There were TARDIS table decorations, Cybermen and Daleks. The pair will be holding an auction for the charity with Dr Who memorabilia. Good luck to a great couple.

You can pledge money to their Just Giving page in order to raise money for Little Buds.
Their auction can be found on the Darent Valley Hospital Facebook page so please keep checking it

Sorry - only just spotted this! Glad you liked the story (we got quite a buzz out of it too!). Off the back of the 'wedding' we also organised a Sci-Fi/Doctor Who event and raised over £2000 for the Little Buds Fund (supports the maternity and special care baby unit and the hospital my wife and I both work) and got a lot of publicity too (the 'wedding' should be appearing on The One Show on BBC1 soon (end of Sept 2016 with luck). Thanks for covering it on your site too! All the best, Paul
