Space X never fails to impress and now a new milestone for the Grasshopper

Space X is a organization that the great Elon Musk created with a philosophy I share -

‘Space X was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars if fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today Space X is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling life on Mars’

Now I will explore Elon in more detail on a later blog as he is one of my inspirations. If only more people could have such positive impact on developing future life. Space X itself was founded in 2002 and employs over 3000 people. They service the International Space Station with the Dragon which is the first private spacecraft to dock with the station. Now that alone is the most incredible feat. The details are here and Space X makes every fact interesting and easy to understand.

They have revolutionised space technology to such a positive extent that we can now believe that living on other planets may just be possible. They have just released a new video of their reusable rocket. The basics are that the company wants to produce a rocket that can launch and land as a modern airliner can. The cost of the rocket is around the same price as a commercial aircraft so the theory is plausible. The tech is extreme and yet they are testing prototypes that seem to work flawlessly.

I want to leave you with the amazing test below, complete with cows running from the scene in Texas. It is one of the 3 vehicles they produce and is called the grasshopper. It is a 10 story vertical takeoff vertical landing (VTVL) vehicle challenging the experts to design a rocket that has never been possible in the past. The following footage, to me, is an inspiration and I follow their progress with real anticipation.
